April Speight · 2020

This chapter provides instructions to download Python depending on various platforms, including the Windows platform and the Unix platform. After the download is complete, the instructions in the installation wizard need to be followed to install Python. After installation of Python, one can check the version of the language using a terminal which is a program that can be used to communicate with the computer. The chapter guides how to check the Python version in both Windows and Unix platforms. On Windows, the Command Prompt window (which is a terminal) can be used to check the Python version installed. If the version of Python installed is 3.x or newer, then the computer is ready for writing the Python code.
