Overview of Security Awareness Categories

Tyler Justin Speed · Auerbach Publications eBooks · 2011

This chapter provides an overview of the more common categories of security awareness. The security awareness categories for almost any organization or department will include the following: Industry standards, Privacy concerns, Password management, Customer file management, Health file management, Credit card compliance, General file management, File access control, and Physical access control. Areas in which visual data privacy protection should be considered include any area wherein an unauthorized individual might see a process or document that should otherwise be private. All financial institutions must also provide protection for digital information such as account balances, transaction data, and personal information such as client social security numbers, contact information, and credit information. Not only are physical invoices, proprietary documents, client records, health forms, and other sensitive documents necessary to protect, but even the digital data must reside in a physical location, such as in a server room.
