Axioms in Number Theory
Diane L. Herrmann, Paul J. Sally Jr. · 2012
In this chapter, we are trying to accomplish at least three things. First, we introduce the axiomatic method. This involves proving theorems by using axioms so that the theorems apply to any system satisfying those axioms. Second, we want to put familiar facts on a solid basis. Finally, we are aiming at an axiomatic characterization of the integers Z.
