Counting Methods and Applications

In this chapter, we present the basic rules of counting and discuss selections of k objects from n objects, with ordering (permutations) and without ordering (combinations) as well as with and without replacement. Also, some special arrangements and interesting applications, such as birthday paradox, game of poker, quality control, and lottery, are highlighted.
