Jon Hall, Joshua Andrews · 2020
This chapter discusses the latest updates and changes in vSphere 6.7 U1. It describes the options for securing a vSphere environment. The chapter explains how to create and configure vSphere objects, set up a content library, set up ESXi hosts, deploy and configure VMware vCenter Server Appliance (VCSA), set up identity sources, and configure a Single Sign-On (SSO) domain. The platform services controller component of vSphere manages the SSO domain for the environment. It can be installed embedded on the same Windows server or VCSA appliance as vCenter, or externally on a separate appliance or Windows sever. The chapter also discusses performance-tuning and optimization of a VMware vSphere solution. It also describes administrative and operational tasks in a VMware vSphere solution, including managing datastores, configuring host security, managing different VMware vCenter server objects, and utilizing VMware vSphere update manager.
