Colin Aitken, Franco Taroni, Silvia Bozza · 2020
A historical review of the role of probabilistic reasoning in legal decision making and the evaluation of forensic scientific evidence is given. The Dreyfus and Collins cases are analysed. Methods described of earlier attempts at evidence evaluation include discriminating power, significance probability and coincidence probability. A brief comment on the role of the likelihood ratio is given.
