Rogueware now a major menace

Fake anti-virus software is now one of the fastest-growing forms of attack, according to a report by PandaLabs. The company says it has seen 374,000 new samples in the second quarter of this year alone, and it is anticipating nearly twice as many – 637,000 – in the third quarter. The number of variants is due to efforts to escape signature-based detection by real A/V software.
