An Encounter between Grey Jay Trickster and an Indigenous A/r/tographer

Jocelyne V. Robinson · The International Encyclopedia of Art and Design Education · 2019

Transformation and simultaneity are at play as an artographical encounter ensues when following Grey Jay Trickster's journey to reencounter the author of this chapter at the Big Water and their reminiscence concerning the Algonquin Ekwânamo Matrix Project (AEMP). The omniscient trickster reencounters the AEMP researcher, thereby illustrating the complex and unique flexibility encompassed within an Indigenous research project that interfaces with the frameworks of storywork, a/r/tography, implicate order, and the AEMP itself, which scaffold the research form to incorporate data, identity, and audience. In this holistic process‐oriented research, an Indigenous epistemological and ecological consciousness unfolds through dream/narrative, dream/story, and dream/song in the realms across time and space of the Indigenous genius. This informs/transforms how we view educational design models that integrate Indigenous pedagogies. In the AEMP, cycles of renewal and “multiple lookings” or perspectives inform processes and representations of scholarly inquiry in science education.
