System architecture and standardisation in Road Transport Telematics
John C. Miles · Traffic engineering & control · 1997
This paper explores Road Transport Telematics (RTT) architecture and standards, and how the two might interplay with a market-led approach. It first defines the RTT system architecture. The U.S. National Architecture for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) is then discussed, with emphasis on how it is being used. The current system architecture in Europe is presented. The future for system architecture is discussed, and emphasis is made on the benefits to be derived from implementation of system architecture.
