Eye tracking device is a powerful tool and has been applied in different fields of study. Eye-tracking can measure the learners’ visual attention during a given task to discover and understand the cognitive process of student learning. Existing equipment available in the market is expensive and costs more than ${\$}$10,000. This study reviews existing studies and proposes a framework for the development of a low-cost IoT-based eye tracking device that can measure the student’s visual behavior while engaging in an online learning platform Canvas. This study can be used by developers of online learning platforms to improve the usability and training of students.
