Software-Defined Radio Network Positioning Technology Design. Problem Statement

Grigoriy A. Fokin, Dmitriy Volgushev · 2022 Systems of Signals Generating and Processing in the Field of on Board Communications · 2022

User equipment (UE) location estimation using existing cellular and other wireless communications systems infrastructure is an up-to-date and in demand field of research and investigation for GNSS-denied environments. Most popular standard network positioning technologies are based on 3GPP LTE and 5G NR positioning reference signals (PRS) as primary measurement and hyperbolic location estimation with Time Difference Of Arrival (TDOA) as secondary processing technique. Current investigation is devoted to foreign state of the art overview in the field of LTE and NR localization system implementation based on Software-defined radio (SDR). The result of analysis is problem statement for own network positioning technology design with Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) hardware and Mathworks software.
