IoT is a network of interconnected computing devices, both mechanical and digital devices, objects with unique IDs, and the capacity to transmit data across a network without human interaction. One of the crucial problems facing IoT networks is congestion control. It uses TCP as a transport protocol to provide reliable, congestion-controlled, process-to-process, and connection-oriented services. However, existing versions of TCP are insufficient to handle various devices to meet IoT requirements. This paper presents a comparative study of several congestion control algorithms, their merits, demerits, and current TCP problems in IoT domains.
