Due to the booming development of cloud computing and big data technologies, key management interoperability protocol (KMIP) plays an important role in centralized key management services. However, lacking in the complete test cases suite becomes a predominant drawback of protocol compliance testing for KMIP. We designed a formal knowledge base and proposed a protocol conformance testing solution built on the finite state machine model. This solution can generate and execute test cases automatically and receive results to judge consistencies between the server protocol implementation and KMIP. We conducted experiments on the Oracle Key Vault (OKV) to demonstrate the validity and practicability of the proposed testing method. Further, this work is conducive to protocol compliance testing for internet protocol as KMIP.
