Integration of Multi-Band Passive and Multi-Functional Active Radar Data

Dietrich Fränken, Alexander Liegl · 2022 IEEE Radar Conference (RadarConf22) · 2022

Active and passive radar sensors come with partially complementary properties, thus a suitable mix of those sensor technologies provides improved performance in a couple of situations of operational interest. Therein, data fusion should be performed in a way that honors the general strengths of both technologies as well as the individual capabilities of the specific sensors as much as possible. In this paper, two Hensoldt sensors will be considered, namely the passive radar system Twinvis and the multi-functional active radar system TRML-4D. A suitable data fusion architecture will be presented that allows for mutual support between the sensors. Fusion results obtained processing live data recordings will be given.
