Design and Investigation of a Bidirectional Fredkin Gate

Reversible computing is a perspective of IT on the front of quantum era. In such area special gates are used, for example, the Fredkin Gates. This element is able to work in two directionally: forward and backward. The back mode gives possibility of computation checking. Authors proposed a bidirectional Fredkin Gate with two modes: "Forward" and "Back", based on usual logic and Tri State Buffers or on novel reconfigurable element. The article describes results of the simulation in Multisim CAD, Quartus CAD. Various options were evaluated for complexity, power consumption and latency. The proposed element allows to carry out diagnostics of throughput logic by inverse calculations.
