Mobile Ad Hoc Network Management and Routing Efficiency

Monitoring and management in ad hoc networks can be an essential source of network traffic. Routing protocols in ad hoc networks have different impacts on quality-of-service and performance of network management. SNMP protocol can be used for wireless ad hoc networks. Different metrics for efficiency in ad hoc networks are discussed. But to increase the efficiency of SNMP in the case of decentralized network the scheme of adaptive polling is proposed. The results of experiments implemented by using NS-3 simulation software show that the proposed polling scheme is better than the fixed one for the tasks of network management and monitoring in the case of ad hoc networks.
