To be more effective in providing healthcare security, security departments need to focus more on the prevention and/or prediction of crime, identifying criminal activity before more crime can occur rather than reacting to crimes as they occur. Crime prevention today is analytical and predictive. Evidence-based crime prevention uses the 80–20 rule in the prediction of crime. Crime prevention practitioners use several models that are effective in the prediction and prevention of crime. Persons who commit crimes are a small number and will repeat committing crime until they are caught or in some cases even after they are caught. Community-Based Policing reduces crime by placing police within the community and allowing them to solve problems within that community that create crime.
