The chapter entitled “Determinants related to threats in information and informatics systems” presents issues oscillating around the title threats related to IT, information security management, IT risk management. It also addresses the issues of advanced IT solutions supporting risk management in organizations and the problems of personal and social risks resulting from the use of information technology in the modern world. In the era of information technology development, globalization and consolidation, information has become the most valuable asset. The rapid development of new information technologies and the pace of implementation of pioneering solutions in the knowledge-based economy translates into the emergence of new global threats relevant to organizations using information systems. A prerequisite for the effectiveness of the security management system is a strategic approach that comprehensively covers all elements of security. The omission of one of the elements leaves a loophole which, if exploited by unauthorized persons, may destroy the entire security effort. Thus, the security management system is also a set of rules and procedures for the overall effective protection of the organization’s information system. Security models and risk analysis play a key role in the process of developing an organization’s security system. Treatment methodologies vary depending on the scale of the information system. It seems pointless to apply complex and difficult to implement models to small information systems. Simplification of the model reduces the cost of construction of the security system, which contributes to preserving the profitability of the entire undertaking.
