While this is an irrelevant factor for ihe shape of the spectrum and entirely unimportant for the computation of ft values, it is convenient to include the factor LQ in view of the calculations of forbidden functions which are now under way.For similar reasons the energy in dependent factor in (2) depending on the nuclear radius is also included?that is, for the forbidden transitions, the shape of the spectrum is not independent of the nuclear radius. In all cases we take ^--1_ rf Al/3 • (V">c)~1.U1 xKf13 Al/3 cm and the mass number A is chosen for each Z so that it represents an average of known electron or positron emitters. The Coulomb field or Fermi function £ has been computed for all Z in the range 2 to 96 in unit steps for both electron and positron emitters, and for 3U values of p up to p = 2$ for Z ^25 and 32 values of p up to p =. 1J> for Z > 25.The piecewise uniform scale of p is to be noted. The accuracy of the entries is 0.1 percent.Calculations underway will provide values of the six forbidden functions Ly , My , N" , Py , Q^and R where the latter three are required for the case of non-pure invariants.-3The values of V to be considered are V* A 0, 1, 2, 3 so that all transitions through second forbidden and, for non-favorable parity change, all through third for bidden will be covered.
