Using Scrum

The rugby term Scrum gives its name to a flexible project management method for making results for a project. The project members work together in multi-disciplinary teams, which deliver shippable products in short ‘sprints’. The Scrum method for executing a project originates from the world of software development, but Scrum can also be used in different types of projects. The terminology used in Scrum may give the impression that it is a difficult method, but in reality it isn’t. The method is flexible and has less interruptions than traditional projects. Scrum also has its drawbacks. Since implementing Scrum concerns a change in culture and organisation, this implementation will not always be easy and will most likely meet with resistance by some members of staff. The Scrum team of approximately seven members realizes the requirements on the list and delivers a working intermediate product at the end of the sprint. Scrum is also called an Agile method.
