Chapter 8: TEX, LATEX, and BIBTEX
Nicolas J. Higham · Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics eBooks · 2019
The typesetting system of choice in the mathematics, computer science, and physics communities is TEX (the “EX” is usually pronounced like the eck in deck) with the LATEX macro package. TEX allows finer control than WYSIWYG (“what you see is what you get”) word processors, such as Microsoft Word, which display on the screen a representation of what the output will look like; indeed the latter are sometimes described as “what you see is all you get.”
