Group Role Assignment (GRA)

Haibin Zhu · 2021

Role assignment is a critical task in Role-Based Collaboration (RBC), and has three steps: agent evaluation, group role assignment, and role transfer, none of which is a trivial process. This chapter clarifies the Group Role Assignment (GRA) Problem (GRAP); describes a General Assignment Problem (GAP); converts a GRAP to a GAP; proposes an efficient algorithm based on the Kuhn-Munkres (K-M) algorithm; conducts simulation experiments; and analyzes the solutions’ performances. The results show that the proposed algorithm is efficient. The GRA problem is a general and abstract problem that can be extended to many other forms of GRA problems discussed in the following chapters. Understanding the formalization of GRA is essential to understand other related problems, i.e. GRA with Constraints (GRA + ) (Chapter 6) and GRA with Multiple Objectives (GRA ++ ) (Chapter 7).
