The Office of Public Information of the University of California, Los Angeles, announced last July the installation at the University's Center for the Health Sciences of the nation's largest computing facility for medical research. Made possible by grants from the National Institutes of Health, the $3,300,000 electronic complex "consists of powerful IBM 7094 and 1410 data processing systems" which "are able to exchange information and computing power electronically with other medical research centers."The possibilities for the betterment of mankind inherent in such an installation outstrip the imagination when one realizes that the storage of huge quantities of research data . . .
