Getting Started with GitHub Pages

Sufyan bin Uzayr · 2022

This chapter deals with a set of issues, namely the creation of the GitHub Pages site, the configuration of the publishing source for GitHub Pages site, changing visibility of our GitHub Pages sites, the problem of Cookies, adding a theme, etc. HTTPS helps in adding a layer of encryption that should prevent others from snooping on us as well as tampering or attempting to adversely affect the traffic of our site. The chapter explores the impact and the implications of the cross-domain cookie attacks. The first step of mitigating an attack vector is always the simple act of cookie tossing. It focuses on the issue of cookie attacks on GitHub Pages, raises awareness on the issue, and emphasizes how the difficulties faced for the purposes of protection against these attacks do not necessarily have to entail a full domain migration, which nevertheless remains a drastic but crucial step.
