Polar codes are very recent channel codes, invented by Erdal Arikan in 2009. Polar codes are simple, nice performing code for control channels in fifth generation (5G) wireless standard. Polar codes are the first codes to have explicit proof for achieving channel capacity. They are linear block codes. Rate adaptive polar codes are based on the number of parity bits. There should be a proper trade-off between error control capability and effective transmission rate. In this work, we design rate adaptive polar codes for 5G and beyond.
