Web-based ‘drive by download' attacks rose dramatically in the summer, according to a report from security firm ScanSafe. The company blocked 87% more web-based malware attacks in July than in the previous month, according to its July Global Threat report, 75% of malware blocks in July originated from web sites that had been compromised by SQL injection attacks – 34% more than the whole of last year.
