Shooting Positions on Set
Jace Downs · 2022
In order to tell the narrative story and get complete scene coverage, unit production stills photographers need to know where they can and cannot be on set to shoot. This chapter describes some typical production setups to provide tips on where to be and how to shoot. Shooting diagrams and frame illustrations are used here to depict the shooting positions described in this chapter. Most production setups will loosely follow one of the general setups described here or be a similar variation thereof, so the shooting positions described can be directly applied or adapted to almost all production setups and shooting scenarios. The most common setups are stationary or moving cameras shooting in only one direction, or cross-shooting setups.
