Optimizing Web Page Ranks Using Query Independent Indexing Algorithm

Shivi Panwar, V. Dilip Kumar · 2022

The field of information retrieval has become very important in recent years due to the interesting challenges of accessing information from the web and the internet, because it is an unlimited source of information. This chapter presents the web information retrieval prototype that outperforms the classical content retrieval by ranking each individual web page instead of ranking the entire website. This improves the results of each web page, and when the user searches for a specific document or content, the results show the most relevant web page instead of the entire website, which may or may not contain the relevant search result. The chapter illustrates the concept of object orientation on the web and performing an analysis of a query independent ranking algorithm on a set of documents whose link structure is represented by a web graph. In this chapter, we have proposed an algorithm that assigns a rank to every document on the web that specifies the quality of that document and the relative level of trust one can have in it and improves the rank of the document on the basis of its relevance.
