An Energy-Aware Caching Policy in Information-Centric Networking
Min Zhu, Zhizheng Peng · 2021
Caching is the basis of Information-Centric Networking. Its transparent, pervasive and fine-grained features make it useful to address the network traffic explosion problem. However, traditional network caching policies only consider cache hit ratio. This paper takes energy efficiency as a major design objective for caching policies, chooses the appropriate network energy consumption model to calculate the overall energy consumption of content caching and content transmission, and then designs and implements a distributed game-based energy-aware caching decision policy (GEACD) and an energy-aware cache migration policy (EACM). Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively reduce network energy consumption.
