Evolution of the Polar Code-Based Encryption Schemes

Code-based encryption schemes make use of the difficulties in coding theory and are one of the main technologies to realize encryption primitives in the post-quantum scenario. Polar codes are the first error-correcting codes that have been theoretically proved to achieve capacity for any discrete memoryless channel, and are used for coding in wireless communications in the 5G era. Thus polar codes are one of the most attractive candidates to realize joint encryption and error correction coding in mobile communication. In this paper, we provide a survey for the development of polar code-based encryption schemes. One of the key contents of the research is to reduce the key size of polar code-based encryption schemes.
