Joint Robust Transmit and Receive Beamforming Based on Probability Constraint

In this paper, a robust beamforming technique is considered by means of joint transmit array and receive array optimization. The proposed joint beamformer can adjust the transmit beam pattern and the receive beam pattern simultaneously to match the target and null the interferences. A probability constraint on the distortionless response is imposed to model robust formulation. The proposed non-convex formulation is decomposed into two parallel second order cone programming (SOCP) problems, and the optimal beamformer is obtained by solving these two SOCP problems in a sequential order. Numerical simulations show that the proposed beamformer is robust against model mismatch errors and outperforms the conventional robust beamformers at the receiver array.
