Noncontact Multi-Target Respiration Sensing Using SIMO Radar With UBSS Method

Li Zhang, Yuan Liu, Hong Hong, Xiaohua Zhu, Changzhi Li · IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters · 2022

Effectively extracting vital signs from multiple targets has been challenging for non-contact vital signs monitoring. This letter presents a nonlinear projection-affinity propagation (NP-AP) clustering-based underdetermined blind source separation (UBSS) approach that can isolate respiratory signals of multiple targets in an underdetermined condition without predetermining the number of targets. The proposed algorithm can provide an accurate estimation of the mixing matrix and is robust to the noises. The experimental result with three human subjects demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method in a real scenario.
