Magnetic Calibration by Tetrahedral Interpolation

William Matthew Briggs · 1999

Abstract This paper presents a method for discovering a work area’s magnetic characteristics using relatively sparse data from a magnetic tracker. It then explains a method based on creating tetrahedrons to create a lookup table used in compensating for the positional data component quickly during runtime. The paper also describes initial “before” and “after” results for a noisy lab, including visuals and statistical data. Finally new techniques are discussed for further refinement and future development.
