The Auditory Setting takes a practice-based approach to its investigation of how ambient sound recorded from particular sites as sonic material contributes to the production of mediated environments in films and media artworks. Places are studied for their specific sonic environment and as sites recorded and (re)presented, firstly, in a number of films and, secondly, in a few sound and media artworks developed from field recordings made at specific sites.
