Having grasped the tactical as well as strategic weaknesses of current SOA implementations, so£ware infrastructure providers and market 136 analysts have shown much interest in envisioning and elucidating nextgeneration SOA (succinctly referred to as NG-SOA) based on various parameters, proles, and propositions. It is strongly believed that NG-SOA is capable of meeting the unique needs of new-generation enterprise IT. However, there is a perceptible lack of consistency in underlining and articulating the relevant facets and facts of NG-SOA. We envisage and highlight the most probable and protable evolutions and revolutions taking place in this happening space and formalize them in a concise and precise manner in this chapter. We base our views on the following three perspectives: 1. Aligning newer technologies with the hot service paradigm 2. Achieving nonfunctional service capabilities 3. Accomplishing new-generation services A number of pathbreaking service technologies are popping up in the enterprise space and are being passionately adjusted and advanced by incorporating the best-in-class features of other proven technologies. Service technologies are thus being made powerful through seamless convergence in order to e¡ortlessly achieve more with less. With users’ soaring expectations, embedding nonfunctional requirements (alternatively referred to as QoS) has become imperative at the technology level. With the stability of service platforms, containers, tool sets, and appliances, appealing and compelling services are being conceptualized and concretized. e vision is to equip and enable SOA through a sanguine and sagacious technology cluster. In other words, NG-SOA must be emboldened with a suite of compact and caring techniques so as to expound and espouse it as the most preferred design philosophy and paradigm for the futuristic cloud IT.
