Coexistence Standards in IEEE 1900
Daniel Chew, Andrew L. Adams, Jason Uher · 2021
The P1900 group was first established in 2005 as a joint working group between the IEEE Communications Society (COMSOC) and the IEEE Electromagnetic Compatibility Society (EMC) with the goal of developing standards specifically targeted for advanced radios capable of performing spectrum management. The goals of the COMSOC and the EMC were to foster new technologies that could employ advanced techniques for using the idle spectrum as efficiently as possible. This chapter provides an overview of the six active working groups within the IEEE 1900 DySPAN-SC committee. These include: 1900.1 working group, 1900.2 working group, 1900.4 working group, 1900.5 working group, 1900.6 working group, and 1900.7 working group. The 1900.3 group was tasked with providing a methodology for estimating the conformance of software-defined radio (SDR) systems with respect to a given published standard. The original standard provided architectural and functional definitions of new elements that would need to be added to existing radio access technologies.
