TICK Stack

TICK Stack is another popular open source time-series–based monitoring platform that was started in 2013. It is developed and maintained by InfluxData as a stack of open source software projects, namely, Telegraf (T), InfluxDB (I), Chronograf (C), and Kapacitor (K), from which it derives the name TICK Stack. TICK Stack has been recently merged into a single binary called InfluxDB 2.0, which is available both as open source software and as an InfluxData supported Enterprise edition. There is a managed SaaS offering called InfluxDB also available in case the hassle of deployment and maintaining it has to be avoided. For the rest of the chapter, we will use both TICK Stack and InfluxDB interchangeably, as with the new single binary, InfluxDB is indeed the erstwhile TICK Stack.
