Access Control in woodland through Blockchain and LoRaWAN
Lorenzo Felli, Romeo Giuliano · 2021
Access control in remote areas may be difficult given the short ranges of the wireless technology and memory and cpu usage required by local sensors for authentication and authorization processes. In this paper we proposed a system able to verify the accessibility of people or vehicles in restricted areas through LoRaWan technology and record the relevant data using a private Ethereum Blockchain. To this aim we implemented a testbed in a woodland testing and evaluating the potentials of both LoRa and Ethereum technology on limited hardware. The testbed is mounted in a pinewood near Rome called "Riserva di Castel Porziano" and different tree densities and heights have been taken into account during the measurement campaign.
