Research on the Secure Routing Mechanism for Software Defined Internet of Things Based on IPv6

Xiangzhi Sun · 2021

The Internet of things (IOT) has gained great popularity in the past decade. With the increase of connected devices, IPv4 protocol has exposed the problems of insufficient address and insecurity. IPv6 is an improved solution to the problem of IPv4. IETF proposed RPL (Routing Protocol for Low-Power and Lossy Networks) routing mechanism based on IPv6. The RPL routing protocol initially did not consider the security of the network, making the RPL protocol vulnerable to many malicious attacks. Software defined network (SDN) has become a significant solution to the problem of heterogeneous device interconnection and network security. SDN-WISE is a software defined IoT solution. Under the SDN-WISE architecture, we will develop an RPL secured routing mechanism based on a trust mechanism to provide secure routing theory technology and a method for deploying the Internet of Things based on IPv6.
