The P-NNI really consists of two parts: a signalling protocol based around the ATM Forum's UNI signalling specification; and a dynamic source routing protocol. Chapter 7 provides an overview of the functionality and mechanics of P-NNI, and compares it with the functionality offered by the ITU-T's Broadband Integrated Services User Part (B-ISUP).
