The paper is devoted to the problems of fault-tolerant routing as a crucial factor for modern communication networks to achieve high availability and reliability through routing mechanisms. The mathematical model of Traffic Engineering Fault-Tolerant routing has been investigated in this study to support the default gateway redundancy strategies and network load balancing by analogy with the First Hop Redundancy Protocols mechanisms. The model covers various options for load balancing in the core and at the access level of the network. The findings of the research demonstrated the efficiency of the suggested model. Finally, reducing the upper bound of the network links utilization contributes to improving the critical Quality of Service parameters such as performance, jitter, packet loss, and average end-to-end delay.
