Data Visualization with Python

This chapter explains how to use Matplotlib to visualize data. Data visualization helps to understand the characteristics and relationships between the features during the data exploration phase but becomes particularly important when developers is dealing with very large datasets that have several hundreds of features. Matplotlib is a plotting library for Python that offers functionality to generate numerous types of plots and the ability to customize these plots. It was created by John Hunter to provide Python users with a plotting library with capabilities similar to MATLAB. Seaborn is another Python plotting package that builds on top of Matplotlib. Regardless of the type of plot developers make with Matplotlib or whether they use the high-level pyplot interface or the lower-level object-oriented interface, there are common components and terminology associated with plots. The chapter explains how to create histograms, bar charts, pie charts, box plots and scatter plots using Matplotlib.
