Performance Analysis of Polar Codes in 5G New Radio

M. Meenalakshmi, Saurabh Chaturvedi, Vivek K. Dwivedi · 2021

Polar codes are simple and efficient capacity-achieving channel codes proposed for binary-input discrete memoryless channels. Recently, 5G communication systems have adopted polar code as a channel coding scheme for control channels due to its modest encoding and decoding complexity. To accomplish further research in polar codes, understanding the concept of polar encoder and decoder and analyzing the performance in various channel conditions are very important. This paper is aimed at the performance analysis of non-systematic polar code in the Rayleigh fading channel in terms of bit error rate. The simulation results exhibit the outstanding performance of polar codes in the Rayleigh fading channel.
