With the advent of the Internet of Things era, strong physical unclonable functions (PUFs) have been proven to be the most suitable cryptographic primitives for secure and reliable authentication, due to their large number of challenge-response pairs (CRPs). This paper presents a lightweight construction for extending a weak magnetic PUF to strong PUF by embedding Corrected Block Tiny Encryption Algorithm (XXTEA) and XOR obfuscation circuits. Experimental results indicate that proposed PUF significantly increases CRPs space and achieves high security. The use of enhanced encryption provides a strong resistance against the machine learning attacks. Comparing with the previous strong PUFs with Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA), the proposed PUF reduces area occupation up to 74.54% and 59.29%, respectively.
