Communications Channel
W. Alan Davis PhD, Krishna K. Agarwal PhD · 2001
A communication system consists of a transmitter, receiver, and channel. This chapter goes into the basics of transmitter-receiver communications in the design of radio frequency circuits. The radio frequencies used here are in the range where much of the present activity in wireless communications occurs (300 MHz-3 GHz). A typical radio analog transmitter and receiver are shown and the various components are discussed (i.e., modulator, transmitter, and receiver). What type of information is carried from transmitter to receiver along with how to determine a system capacity is described.
