Part one of the book explores the technologies that have and will influence the telecommunications world. Part one is presented in 9 chapters covering technologies from circuit- and packet-switching through to information (content) storage, location and retrieval. Each chapter represents an overview of each of the areas with a level set to encourage more study where required, but presenting the salient information for those readers needing to know the basic information.
