Statistical Uncertainty Techniques for Analysis of Simulation and Model Test Data
Michael D. Levine, Vadim Belenky, Kenneth Weems · 2017
This paper provides an overview of statistical uncertainty techniques that have been applied to seakeeping and hydrodynamics data from model basin experiments and simulations. Statistical uncertainty is due to the finite length of “random” response data in irregular seas. The principle mathematical methods for statistical uncertainty entail determination of the variance of the sample mean, variance, and auto-covariance respectively with application to individual data records and ensembles.
