Mobility Support in Slice-based Network Control for Heterogeneous Environments (MOBISLICE 2021)
2021
The realization of the 5th generation of mobile communications (5G) had a decisive shortening of the gap between the telecommunications and the computing worlds. The incorporation of key technical enablers, such as Network Function Virtualization (NFV), Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) has created an innovative setting for the dynamic and elastic provisioning of services, fuelled by innovative usage scenarios and deployments. In fact, a whole new family of scenarios, exploiting key capabilities offered by 5G, namely Ultra Reliable Low Latency Communications (URLLC), Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) and Massive Machine-Type Communications (mMTC), have allowed to consider service provisioning to verticals, which place stringent requirements, such as specific traffic isolation and processing.
