Design of Secure NFC e-Payment with Ambient Conditions-based Solutions and Chaskey Algorithm

Devi Clarisa, Desi Marlena · 2021

Near Field Communication (NFC) is a wireless communication technology that is currently widely used in e-payments. One of the security issues in NFC is relay attacks. In this study, a payment system design will be made using ambient conditions-based methods and the Chaskey algorithm which is the lightweight HMAC algorithm as the authentication protocol on Internet of Things (IoT) devices to overcome relay attacks. The test results show that the ambient conditions-based method and the Chaskey algorithm can be used as part of a secure nfc-based payment system with a transaction process success rate of 51,58% and an average transaction speed of 11 seconds and is able to thwart transactions with relay attacks in it.
