The Age of Wi‐Fi and Rise of the Wireless SuperNetwork (WiSNET) TM
Daniel Minoli, Jo‐Anne Dressendofer · 2021
This chapter discusses the intrinsic elements of the Wireless SuperNetwork (WiSNET), whose genesis and impetus were the new all-inclusive networking infrastructure engineered by the Slice Wireless team at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. The WiSNET is able to make airports and other densely populated public areas a part of the sharing economy. The chapter also discusses architectural aspects of a generic WiSNET, and the technological platforms and the management elements of a generic WiSNET. WiSNET protocol/architecture will provide economic, productivity, reliability, and functionality gains on all three realms of the super-integrated network. These include: gains obtained by the super-integrated architectural aspects of the WiSNET; gains obtained by the super-integrated technology aspects of the WiSNET; and gains obtained by the super-integrated management aspects of the WiSNET. The network slice can be a self-contained network with its own virtual resources, topology, traffic flow, and provisioning rules.
